Chetana Veg. Restaurant, a division of Chetana Pvt. Ltd., has been expanded, renovated and modernised in 2001 with new décor and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the cheerful boulevard. Ample public parking is available.

Vegetarianism as a life-style choice, as well as a commitment to offer the freshest ingredients in a healthful, imaginative, wholesome food had a strong influence on the development of the restaurant's repertoire. The continued growth in our client base – which consists of Industrialists, Media Persons, Professionals, and a collection of Mumbai’s Artists – and a steady stream of young people and tourists dropping into the restaurant demonstrates that the eating public loves and wants this kind and quality of food.

Many customers of Chetana Veg. Restaurant aren’t vegetarian, but they return again and again for our delectable food, beautiful presentation, warm and cozy atmosphere and friendly service. When you’re here, you’re family.

Started in 1946 as a sandwich/coffee corner serving the intellectuals and elite of Bombay (now known as Mumbai) engaged in philosophical discussions, poetry readings or playing chess in Chetana premises, the restaurant soon grew into an eatery specializing in cuisine from the Indian princely states of Gujarat and Rajasthan. The choice of cuisine was further enlarged in 2001 by introducing a Multi-cuisine to supplement the ongoing Gujarati and Rajasthani food. Moreover, a buffet service was added to the sit-down Thali service. Both these concepts provided a wider variety of food and catered for busy lifestyles of the present times, and soon become very popular.

Chetana’s traditional and inspired creations comprise of a seasonal array of totally vegetarian ingredients that come fresh from farms to your table. With respect for all life and to promote a lifestyle in harmony with the balance of nature through the wonders of vegetarian food, we proudly serve all dishes free of meat, poultry, fish and egg.

Chetana Veg. Restaurant is dedicated to maintain customers’ environmental, spiritual and physical well-being through a commitment to excellent vegetarian cuisine served in a vibrant and friendly atmosphere.

We serve ‘Eat-All-You-Can’ sit-down Thali meals and a self-help buffet for Lunch and Dinner. Additionally, À la Carte orders are entertained during the dinnertime.

A Chetana Regular Thali served on all days, both for Lunch and Dinner, typically consists of an apitising drink of fresh buttermilk or spiced water with roasted cumin seeds (Jaljeera), two varieties of hors d’oeuvres (Farsan), two vegetables, one pulse preparation (Kathol), three varieties of hot-from-the-griddle Indian bread (Baajri ki Roti, Bhakri, Phulka), a mildly-sweet Gujarati style tuvar daal, a mild spicy-sweet gravy in a yogurt base (Kadhi), Rice, a nutritious mixture of rice and pulsed (Kichdi) – all to the accompaniments of Salad/Chutney/Pickle – and a choice from desserts of the day. Indian bread and Khichdi are served with butter if you so prefer.

The famous Chetana Rajasthani Dal-Bati-Churma Thali, or a Deluxe Thali offering more variety of desserts, is served only during the dinnertime. Sundays and festivals are celebrated with specially prepared sweets and a Special Thali.
